bolfAlena Kotzmannová (*1974) graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (Studios of Adéla Matasová and Pavel Štěcha) and from the Faculty of Education at Charles University. She also studied at the Norwich School of Art and Design and at Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa. She works in photography, video and installation, approaching them conceptually and exploring their rules and limits. She combines the media in various ways, reflecting on their very essence. She addresses situations of everyday life, viewing them from unexpected perspectives and revealing their hidden poetics. Besides Jindřich Chalupecký Award, she was also a finalist of Jaromír Funke Award for young Czech photographers. During her residency programs, she exhibited her work in New York, Helsinki and Mexico City.
