"Viktorie Langer is primarily a painter, while also working in the media of collage, drawing and ceramics. Her work is inspired by early 20th century art, especially Artificialism and Poetism, however, it also speaks a very current language and has a mature signature style." (jury statement)

Viktorie Langer (*1988) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Painting Studio II/Vladimír Skrepl School). She went on a study stay at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and spent two semesters at the studios of visiting professors Florian Pumhösel and Silke Otto Knapp at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Langer is primarily a painter, while also working in the media of collage, drawing and ceramics. Her often large-sized paintings are apparently inspired by early 20th century art, primarily artificialism and poetism, rather than by current trends on the international art scene. Yet the almost abstract work of Langer uses a very current language and has a well- established signature style. The artist has introduced her work primarily in the context of the Czech independent art scene, however, she has also exhibited her work at the National Gallery in Prague and at the Sør-Troms Museum in Trastad, Norway. In 2016, she went on a residency in Athens within Are Events.
