Comunite Fresca

Comunite Fresca

"The Comunite Fresca trio focuses on the possibilities of a common visual style of three artists within a single painting as well as on the question of the relation of an image to a specific space and to a specific user. The artists suggest fresco painting as a possible mediator in the reconciliation between conceptual art and the general public which rather favors classic media.” (jury statement)

Comunite Fresca is a collective of three artists, graduates from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. They are Dana Balážová (*1989, Nový Jičín), Markéta Filipová (*1990, Prague) and Marie Štindlová (*1990, Prague). The collective revives the fresco technique known since antiquity and shifts its form and content towards the field of contemporary art. An important aspect of their work lies in the presentation of their realizations in public space and other venues outside conventional gallery environments. The artists find a number of inspiration sources for the aesthetic fusion of their individual styles and themes, whether in traditional symbolism, nature and modernist simplicity or in the morphology of urban walls, tags and in painting throughout centuries. Besides public and private spaces, the group has also introduced their work at Czech independent galleries and institutions.
