Karolína Rossí

Karolína Rossí

Karolína Rossí (1983) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, in the studio of Vladimír Kokolija. She also spent a semester at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Aix en Provence, France. She works primarily in the medium of painting and watercolor collage, with overlaps into spatial installations. In her work, Rossí has long been concerned with the principles and forms of life, but also with what lies behind them. She observes how the environment shapes us and how we react to various situations.

Her current work draws inspiration from the mystical form of Sufi teachings. The author explores how our thoughts, feelings, or desires create certain energy residues, which have their own colors, shapes, and sounds. There is a relationship between sound and color, and the combination of different tones or colors in the right proportion and in a certain rhythm creates harmony. These are vibrations that allow us to communicate without words and thus perceive and understand images more fully. Together with the vibrations of other beings and forms, they shape our universe, which we can all have a little differently. Each of Rossí's paintings is therefore not just an abstraction of shapes and forms, each work is a small universe of its own.

She has presented her work in a number of independent galleries and exhibition institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad, for example in the Nevan Contempo gallery, NoD, the Gallery of Modern Art in Roudnice nad Labem, the MeetFactory in Prague, or the Swimming pool gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria.
