Barbora Lungová (1977) studied English and film studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Prague and subsequently studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, where she has been teaching art theory and English since 2007. She is currently continuing her postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. In her artistic practice, she focuses on painting, which, under the influence of a theoretical background in film studies, primarily addresses the power aspects of representation - she is concerned with a critical and ironic depiction of patriarchy and the canons of masculinity from a feminist perspective, but also with exploring positive representations of queer identities and queer desire. Her more recent projects focus on environmental themes and so-called critical gardening.

Part of the author's artistic research at the Academy of Fine Arts is represented by the long-term gardening project The Rainbow Garden in Kameníky near Kyjov/Duhová zahrada v Kameníkách u Kyjova and is conceived as a preserve of queer identities, culture and, above all, encounters. The conceptual concept of the garden is based on the deconstruction of gender stereotypes reflected in the planting plan. The garden is built in close connection with activities focused on both the queer community and the biodiversity of local ecosystems. The author's work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions, e.g. in Plato Ostrava or the Slovak National Gallery, and in group exhibitions, e.g. in the Brno House of Arts, the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen, the Blansko City Gallery or the Regional Gallery in Liberec.
