Vladimír Houdek (*1984) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Studio of Painting II/Vladimír Skrepl School). He deals with classic painting, collage and experimentation with these. He creates new visual forms following modernist and post-modernist concepts. His paintings, mostly forming complex thematic cycles, include references to various painting styles (Constructivism, Cubism, op art and others), reinterpreting them and commenting on art history. The circle is a frequent motif in his paintings as a means of expression for certain contents throughout his work. Besides leading Czech institutions, he presented his work at Schleicher/Lange in Berlin, Trafó Gallery in Budapest and the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest.
