Award Holder

Jindřich Chalupecký Award 1994 went to Michal Gabriel. In the Award catalogue, he said the following about the production process of the exhibited sculptures: “I modelled the sculptures out of wax and had them cast in bronze at first because they could not be preserved in wax. Later, when I realized that the casting process was similar to the petrification process, ‘petrification’ became a key moment in my work on the following sculptures.” The award holder received CZK 100.000 for an exhibition, publication or a creative project of his choice and an international residency.

The Head of the Jury of the 5th edition of Jindřich Chalupecký Award was art historian and curator Milena Slavická.
