The Polyphonic Womb

Multimedia artist and musician Marie Tučková presents the latest version of her film The Polyphonic Womb together with thematically related drawings and objects at the Liberec Regional Gallery. Within the framework of the exhibition, the artist elaborates on the topic of her thesis with which she graduated from the Dutch Art Institute in Arnhem in the Netherlands, and which focuses on the issue of polyphony and collective survival.

Marie Tučková, MA (1994), employs text, performance, music composition, video, drawing and installations as her artistic media. Her work explores the politics around listening, the hierarchy of voices, polyphony, various forms of collaboration, and the overlap between political and poetic language. She draws attention to the connection between the exploitation of nature and women's bodies. Her work draws on long-term research, collaboration, and improvisation as an infinite rehearsal (Wilson Harris). She is the laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award 2020. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (Studio of Photography) and graduated with a Master’s degree from the Dutch Art Institute Art Praxis in 2021.
