Filip Cenek

Filip Cenek

Filip Cenek (*1976) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology (Video and Multimedia Studio of Keiko Sei). He works in the media of video, animation, video installation and the moving image. He uses photographic materials which he brings into motion and combines them with text, often employing slide projection. Collaboration is an important aspect of Cenek’s work as he likes to join forces with other creators. Straddled between narration and lyricism, his works play with motifs of blurriness and unreadability as well as with moments of unfinishability and inexpressibility. The artist creates complex installations immersing the viewers while refusing quick interpretations. This ambiguity of meaning and resistance to narrative certainty has a fresh and daring effect. Cenek works as dean and lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology and presents his work at classic and alternative Czech gallery institutions.
