ERROR and its Alliances

ERROR and its Alliances

Harmonogram of the event:
17:00 Discussion on the topic of ERROR and its Alliances, library on the 3rd floor of Pražák Palace
18:30 Guided tour of the Museum of Romani Culture exhibitions, led by director Jana Horváthová, Museum of Romani Culture

The upcoming discussion with politician and sociologist Abel Ravasz and Director of the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno, Jana Horváthová, is part of Robert Gabris's ERROR project. Gabris is one of this year's five Jindřich Chalupecký Award laureates. ERROR comprises two parts: one, a physical installation at the Pražák Palace - Moravian Gallery in Brno addressing the topic of Roma non-binary corporeality and corresponding safe spaces, and the second, process-based part, which is a platform for further discussion and practical steps that could lead to the creation of such spaces. The development of safe spaces requires alliances and resources, which Gabris seeks through this project in cooperation with curator Karina Kottová. The aim is to move the ideological discussion toward real solutions.

Ábel Ravasz and Jana Horváthová are important figures for the further development of the ERROR project. In an open conversation, the speakers will analyze the current situation of multi-marginalized identities, their origins and their position within the social scene in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The discussion will address one of the key questions of the ERROR project: how to physically improve the situation of groups representing Roma queer corporeality, who are systematically marginalized not only in the broader social environment, but also within their own families. After the discussion at the Pražák Palace, we will continue together to the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno, where director Jana Horváthová will lead us through the exhibitions. We will learn more about the history and collections themselves, and about the possibilities of cooperation between institutions and (not only) Roma communities.

The event will be held in Czech language.
