Dušan Skala (*1979) is the graduate of the Faculty of Art and Design at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (Studio of Photography under Pavel Baňka and Digital Media Studio under Štěpánka Šimlová). He paid study visit to the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the New Media II Studio of Veronika Bromová. Apart from classical photography, Skala also makes use of video and other media in his projects. Over a long period he has devoted himself to the topic of his family archives, applying appropriation procedures to paraphrase them. Skala often works with amateur photography, video and family snapshot aesthetics, which he also treats theoretically. Apart from Czech art galleries, he exhibited his artworks e.g. at Plattform 08 in Switzerland or the Well Gallery in London.
